I won't even start to go into the long litany of Jewish sources against capital punishment. . . I won't say anything about the preciousness of life. . . . . All I can say now is I am deeply saddened by the death penalty verdict for Saddam Hussein. . . . It is a dark cloud. . . One that portends nothing but more violence in the future. . . . I feel terrible grief for the innocent lives that are at risk . . . . Too many martyrs. . . And now we are making one more.
